The economy and energy are the two big topics on everyone's mind right now. These three books offer solutions on how to preserve our economy while simultaneously saving the planet.

The New York Times "Foreign Affairs" Columnist Thomas L. Friedman proposed an ambitious national strategy-which he calls "Geo-Greenism"-in his book Hot, Flat and Crowded. Friedman explains why America must lead the ET (Energy Technology) revolution with the first Green President and a Green New Deal, spurred by the Greenest Generation. “Geo-Greenism is not only what we need to save the planet from overheating; it is what we need to make America healthier, richer, more innovative, more productive and more secure”, according to Mr. Friedman.

Natural Capitalism: Creating the Next Industrial Revolution, by Paul Hawken, Amory Lovings and L. Hunter Lovins, explores the lucrative opportunities for businesses in an era of approaching environmental limits. These three leading business visionaries explain how the world is on the verge of a new industrial revolution-and provide a blueprint for a new economy, one that will transform our fundamental notions about commerce and its role in shaping our future.

Green Collar Economy

The Green Collar Economy, written by Van Jones, proposes that instead of bailing out unregulated Wall Street, we should instead take half of that loan-$350 Billion- and reboot, repower and retrofit America. A Green New Deal would let us put millions of people to work, retrofitting buildings, building windmills and solar panels and provide the country with energy security. Van Jones's proposal would be half the price of the Wall Street bailout, yet would have twice the impact and twice the benefits to the American people.
