Help! I stumbled on a post once that said he dug a four foot ditch, filled it with gravel, and then poured the slab on top. This, he said, gave the slab a base temp of 50 degrees. If this is true and possible, it would mean a lot to me. I'm looking to do a slab in a cold Upstate NY area for a steel building. Cost really matters, and I'd hate to have to get into any serious foundation issues. What would the steps be to do what that poster suggested? What about condensation and insulation and vapor blocks? Thanks for any help. I really appreciate it.
