Hello, Is there any disadvantage to installing typical off the shelf thermostats (i.e. thermostats that would normally be used to control forced air furnaces) to control a radiant hydronic zone? Conversely is there any advantage to using thermostats e.g. Tekmar if they are only used for measuring ambient temperature? Most of the house is also heated by a forced air furnace. I can see that the forced air will often satisfy the thermostat and turn off the radiant, so my plan was to use programmable thermostats to keep the suspended pex areas going all the time while we want them on (for comfort under foot), turning them down at night (set and forget would be nice but i don't want the system running 24/7 if we are not home all the time, and the suspended pex floors are relatively responsive - can feel the warmth in a short time).
Our radiant system: Navien 240A Heating Box, closed loop 2 zones in concrete, one of which is controlled by a Tekmar with floor sensor 2 zones suspended pex under tile
