Hi, we are in the process of planning out our new house in Calgary. We are waiting on the permits from the city and I need to figure out some of the details. We are building off the existing foundation with an addition to the basement using ICF's. The upper two stories will be done with Magboard SIP's, high efficiency windows and such.
I have a bit of a worry about the upper floor though. The main floor is wide open, about 1400 square feet with very few walls. The living room will have a clear span of 24' which is where the problems may arise. I may have to add another beam to cut this span down. I was thinking of using Warmboard until I got a quote of $9/square foot, thinking about gypcrete now but wondering if it will be too heavy.
Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated, I don't want bouncy floors. I'll try to attatch a floor plan for the main floor.
Thanks, Sean |
