First post here, but am hoping someone can clarify something for me. I am installing a radiant floor with two zones: Zone 1 = 1 circuit Zone 2 = 4 circuits My plan is to get a 5 branch manifold and connect them via telestats to a zone control system from Taco. Here is my newbie question, do the 4 circuits on Zone 2, all physically connect to one zone on the controller? Or does each telestat get physically connected to one "zone" on the controller, then logically grouped together? Thanks in advance!!!

you will need ZVC403-4 3 Zone - Zone Valve Control or similar, they do not make a 2 zone unit,
thermostats wire to taco box
actuators wire to taco box (multiple actuators wire in parallel )
end switch in taco box to boiler
I would consider using a Grundfos ALPHA Circulator, plug it in to the wall set it on auto, it will only come on when a actuator is open and it is proportional, in that it will increase water flow if all five curcuts are open, decrease if only one is open, and no flow if nothing is open. a smart pump

Yes, we love that Grundfos pump and Grundfos pumps in general too. Presumably you first accomplished a heat loss analysis before designing your HR floor heating system. Presumably you actually also designed your HR floor heating system to provide the required BTUs/hour for each zone and determined the required PEX spacing, circuit flow rates, pump size, supply temp, etc. to accomplish this. Normally, you would want ALL the circuits that make up each heating zone to be operating when that zone calls for heat.

What is described is sub zoning on a manifold.
Easily done with 1 manifold, actuators and alpha pump.
Loving a Grundfos fixed velocity pump while sub-zoning with actuators would be the lesser choice in this application.
