Ok, I went to the trouble to register here and ask advice so kinda feel obligated to let you know the solution. If you recall a few weeks back I was whining here about all kinds of imagined problems with my GSHP. Something I will bring up again before this over is how important it is to do your homework find a reputable/qualified installer well before you start a project. Don't get on a message board and try to fix it after the fact! I would also tell you for the first time in 5 years I am quite happy with my system. The guys that installed my system turned out to be quite incompetent. After they finally recommended me to call the local experts with another company my problems have been fixed. The problem... drum roll please, low freon. No ground loop issues, no thermocouple problems, no design conspiracies. Jeez. The guy came out and diagnosed it in 15 minutes and had it blowing 110 degrees within the hour. 2/3 low on freon. Do you think that might be a problem? He also fixed the tstat issue, programmed wrong. It was setup for gas heat so eheat would not happen until fan was running. This resulted in the $220 bill to heat the house during our ultra cold snap here. Have you ever been told that GSHP systems where supposed to be ultra quiet? They ARE when you remove the shipping brackets from the spring isolators on the compressor. I had to go out to the closet in the garage to make sure it was running after they where removed. I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor and just plan a little. For me, research for a qualified company at least 6 months before your install of ANY system. This would be overkill for an average install but if it isn't, you still have time to fix before d-day. Thanks to Geodean, Engineer, Geothermalman and all I didn't mention. Obviously a simple problem to be fixed on a properly installed system. By the way, find a good company to take care of you. 'Nuff said. Thanks again, Joe

Glad to hear everything worked out.
Might I gently suggest that it would have been useful to hang the update onto the bottom of your original thread, thereby bumping it to the top and allow us and spectators to more easily link the original issues with the solutions.
Again, glad to hear it worked out - no substitute for proper planning, selecting a good installer, and 'boots-on-the-ground' vs free-and-worth-every-penny internet assistance.

Congratulations!!!
This only experience is all to common. It was not a geo exchange problem at all. Worst of all the hvac was not qualified for any of it, let alone the geo exchange portion. So sad. Eric Sackett weberwelldrilling.com |

It is a good reminder for others not to give up. I'd like you to attach your initial thread as well, so some of the other frustrated folks can see the before and after (before they give up on geo). Joe |
