I'm planning on purchasing a Waterfurnace. Can I buy the desuperheater option and hook it up later (in a year or two)??? Thanks, DC

Yes. my former system had a Desuperheater but was never hooked up. So long as you get a system with the option installed, you can connect it anytime you desire .... or never.   But to clarify, you need to purchase the unit WITH desuperheater already installed, I do not beleive it's just a plug in add on that can be installed on an existing system later.

Yes - must buy up front.

Be sure not to power the desuper pump until there is water in its lines.

By the way a properly installed DSH could have a payback quicker than the rest of the system, and if they lift the cap on the tax credits, you may be better off hooking it up from the get go.

Good point - mine has offset approx 2/3 of an approx $350 annual resistance-heated hot water bill. If the DSH is already aboard the machine, plumbing and tanking it should cost only a couple year's hot water savings - great ROI.

Folks further north than Florida likely have higher resistance-heated hot water cost owing to cooler entering domestic water temp. Mine is 71.

Engineer is exactly right. Don't power that pump even for a moment without the lines connected and bled of all air. There is a switch on the door of the WaterFurnace Envision that turns the HWG on and off. It you bump it by accident, it'll come on and burn up the pump. The HWG circ pump is currently the #1 warranty part replaced by WaterFurnace.

Open the door and you'll find an in-line 3 AMP fuse holder in the HWG wire. Remove that fuse until you're ready to hook it up.
You're only as good as your last install...

Thanks all for the help on this question. Five stars ***** go to IdahoGeo for his tip about pulling the fuse until the install is ready to go.
