Has anyone out there installed or have a Hydro-Temp geothermal unit? I would like to hear your opinion of the quality of the unit.

I've been involved with several dozen of these units used throughout the State of Wisconsin. The quietest geothermal heat pump I've ever observed, along with the highest btuh HE numbers. Very impressive product.

That is good to hear. I am located in Oskosh WI. In general we have been very pleased with this unit as well. Especially the extra features it offers that the competition doesn't like the patented water heating system, redundent compressors and the ease to monitor system performance.

The only hickup we have had so far is a low pressure warning is flagged everytime our in floor heat for the garage turns on. So far the explanation we have been given for this is the in coming antifreeze temp from the garage to the heat pump is to low thus tripping the error. This error never shuts down the unit, but does require it to reset several times. Every time it resets the in coming liquid is warmed slightly where eventually the systems continues to run. I am concerned the additional cycling of the compressors will reduce their long term life.

Have you run into this error and or have you found a work around?

No offense, but you two have 3 combined posts on this forum, all confined to this thread, speaking of a product I've never heard of.
Tell us why we should believe you two aren't connected to one another and to Hydro temp.
I mean this as a genuine question, not an accusation.

Say it ain't so, Joe.... Always wanted to say that. Sorry,

Conspiracy That's what I thought when I first saw it too. But I know of Dave.

Hydro-temp Geothermal units are a very nice and efficient unit.

A printed circuit board, especially designed for them to produce staging and ductwork dampering systems and troubleshooting of the heat pump.

A low profile company. Designs a lot of custom built systems. Only problem is the warranty doesn't seem that strong. And not really listed on any government incentive's lists.
They do have a unit designed for schools and offices that fits right into the corner of the room.

This is where it sounds like a sales pitch.^^^

To answer your question short cycling can have an effect on system life , how much so depends on how frequently it happens , and how short the cycle .

I would assume there is no buffer tank , or its way to small , because otherwise you would not be having this problem .
You could also keep the floor a few degrees warmer to prevent the low pressure trip
You also could decrease the gpm going to the garage , eff. wise this would be last resort

Two deal breakers. Bad enough to have shorter warranties, but to not get a tax credit......?
