We are building a new home, the builder included propane but we wanted geothermal so hired our own contractor for that. Now the builder still wanted his guy to do the hrv. Fine with us. Now the geothermal is in and hrv ducting upstairs are in. The hrv ducting isn't connected to anything yet. I"m confused is it suppose to be connected to the furnace or what?

It can be and I have installed them either way ...
I prefer the HRV to be a stand alone system .
Tied into the duct work the Heating/AC blower will have to be running all the time the HRV unit is......
Hopefully you where sold a Dual core HRV unit... Some of the HRV units are not very efficient
Either way will work fine for you , but if I where the GEO installer I wouldn't want someone tying
into my system that could have an effect on its performance .......
