Three months ago I took over a job to find a refrigeration leak on a 6 ton combo geothermal unit. I found a hole in the middle of the filter drier? I changed out the filter drier, pressure tested and purged with nitrogen (twice) and then pulled a vacuum on the system down to 470 microns before recharging the system. Everything was working great. Two days ago I returned as the unit was again in a LP lockout and I found another hole in the new filter drier I installed?? No idea why this is happening, unit has original compressor so there was no burnout which may have created acid. The filter drier is rusted on the top and bottom a bit where the paint melted when I was installing drier but I find it hard to believe it could rust through in only 3 months. Need some advice on what to do?
