I am going to insulate under the slab and around the exterior of my (new in 2015) foundation with foam; I was looking for EPS but can't find any used material locally, I did find 3" XPS (originally blue but its been stored outside for quite awhile so its whitish... it came from a demolished commercial building and has glue and what appears to be fiber board stuck on it. I don't think those things matter for my use but wonder if they are being reasonable on cost.
They want $1.00 a sq/ft so $32 for a 4x8 sheet (cost comparison wise) these sheets are 2' x 4".
It seems pretty pricy considering its condition (or does that matter)?
If it avail anywhere near my location (Kenora Ontario/Winnipeg Manitoba) in Canada for a better price please chime in :)
They have about 3000 sq/ft of it, my plan (if I buy it) was to use two layers (R30) under the slab and a single layer surrounding the foundation (R15) as a frost protector...I plan EPS for the foundation exterior walls). Any thoughts?
There is an existing foundation that I can't get under but will insulate the perimeter of (frost protection and then EPS on these walls too), the additional foundation (800 sq ft will get under slab and perimeter
foam
...

I think that that is way too much, if it was in like new condition that would be an ok price.
From what I have seen on Craigslist (North Carolina ) used foam board insulation goes for about 10-15% of retail.
Last year I bought (42) 4' x 20' 1.5" thick sheets of EPS in decent condition for $225. So about $.06 per sq ft.
So in my opinion that is way too much. But I'm not familiar with the typical cost or availability of it where you are.
