I'm buying a house that has been empty and winterized for a while and the interior temp is below 32. The Honeywell IAQ thermostat is calling for heat, but nothing is happening (the blower is not blowing and the ground loop circulators are not flowing). While reading through the WF manual it calls for an return air temp greater than 50. How can I start getting heat to be produced? Thanks, Milan

Maybe run some electric space heaters to get the house temp up. Tricking the thermostat should work, but it's not worth the possible damage to your geo equipment.

Are there auxiliary heating elements in the unit? Switching the thermostat to emergency heat should employ the electric resistant heat.

There may be a separate breaker in the electric panel that controls the aux heat.

You might lock out in a low temp event, but if there is no indication of that then there maybe something else going on. is the thermostat tight to it's base?

You really need to have a qualified service tech look at the system. Once the home is up to about 60* the unit should be started and a complete check-up should be done.

A variety of portable propane heaters can be had for less than $100 if you want to pre-heat the house. Just buy a CO detector to go along with it. They are not bad to have for the occasional garage/hunting cabin use. Check Tractor SUpply store or big box hardware stores.

MAH, I'm going through the exact same thing, except mine is a Climatemaster furnance. In my case the unit operates and then shuts off with the error "E5 - Low coil temp" after a few minutes.

From speaking with my geothermal supplier, I have to bring the house up to above 40 since the furnace draws air from the whole house. Makes obvious sense now, but I which they put it in the manual so that it's clear from the start.

Let me know if you managed to get yours fixed... I'm still working on sealing my house (new construction) before I heat it up.
