IF GROUND temp goes down does KHW GO UP?

Hello, I just started to run stats on my unit and notice at 14f out side in Dec. my unit was using 2208 kwh. Now in Feb at 14f the unit is using 3400 KHW . Same inside temp 72f. My thinking is the longer it is colder out the more the unit uses. Can some one confirm this or should I be looking to call the repairman? Nice forum ... Lots of useful information!

The deeper you get into the season the lower the EWT (entering water temperature) due to prolonged/persistant demand> the less btus you extract from the ground> the longer it takes to heat your home (or auxiliary contributes more)> the more kwhs you use.....
