Hi Doc, Was having some trouble sending a PM, so I'll just reply here. Maybe you can PM to me? You had mentioned a while back you might have a drawing of a job with a buffer tank where when the HP was running, the piping allowed the HP supply water to go directly to the radiant heat zones without going through the buffer tank. I was wondering if you might be able to PM me that drawing. Also, how are the high temp Waterfurnace units working out lately? Thanks! |

Hi Doc, glad to hear the WF units are working so well. For some reason I can't send a PM, system crashes. |

Yes, the Manning system shows the piping arrangement pretty clearly - If the zone pump is on for radiant zones the HP supply water gets pulled right past the buffer tank and feeds right into the radiant zones, very nice! |

You got mail.
Please note that the pump feeding the zones must be variable speed, constant pressure.
The second pump can be constant speed. |

I am looking to change my radiant heat from fossil fuel to Geo. I have reviewed several water to water heat pumps. They show leaving water temps into the 130s. My question is, I may have a month or so where we need about 120 deg water pretty much constantly. Can these newer HPs provide almost constant 120 deg water, or is that putting too much strain on them?
Secondly, I've seen from the forum the advice on installer being more important than brand. That being said, are there brands more know for reliability of water to water units, some to probably avoid?
We are in souther NH as far as climate goes
Do not put too much strain on them, simply install it which will be helpful for you. |

I'm in central NH, and have had a water-water heat pump as my sole source of heat since 2007. I use a combination of the original baseboard radiators from the oil burner, and some Myson panel radiators. I designed for never needing higher than 110 F water, though I've had no trouble getting it to 120 when I've tried that. For example, we had a leak in the baseboard loop and were running only the panel radiators for a week or so while getting the leak fixed. It had no trouble doing 120 that week. Sorry I wasn't on this forum sooner to give you feedback. Would be happy to show you our system. |

thanks Chrs, that's sort of what I'm thinking too. I have some existing Radiant stapled up to floor and have added a test section of low temp baseboard. I would add more of the low temp baseboard most likely. What brand HP do you have? Sounds like its been working well. What size, and what is the well? Always interested to hear. I am near Keene. |

Our HP is Hydron Module, 3 ton, with two 300 foot closed-loop wells. It's been mostly completely trouble free, but to be fair it did have a refrigerant leak two years ago that left us without heat in January. Overall I think that's a pretty good record. I'll PM you some contact information in case you are nearby sometime and want to see it. |

My WaterFurnace water to water can easily put out 130 degree water and WF has a unit that goes up to 155 degrees but its a special system. |
