If you want to either post photos here or email them to me, i can help you figure out what unit you have in your attic. Unfortunately, we have worked on many CM units. If it is a split system (ie. compressor in basement, air handler in attic), the installer is responsible for installing the copper tubing and refrigerant. This can be a tricky task if not experienced. Also, please not that while i dont think in 2013, but some previous model years, the manual was wrong and recommended the wrong line set pipe ID/OD size, which would throw the unit performance off, especially on long line-set runs. A leak in this system typically would be on the installer side of thing. If your compressor is in the attic, it is considered a closed refrigerant system, and more than likely could be at fault of manufacture if installation followed proper methods. We have seen leaks at many different spots throughout the closed system and have been a tricky fix. Careful diagnostic is required. CM does offer a warranty if it was the manufacture issue, but it never would cover the full cost of the repair. Typically on systems I install, I eat the difference from what is reimbursed to me (for a certain period of time). If another installer installed, i charge them the radiance, which sometimes is a fair amount of money to a homeowner having to shell out, while I am kind and play gentle, I am not in it to pay for others mistakes. |
