I am looking for some kind of siding that is low maintenance (like brick) and that looks nice and could possibly be used on SIP  type walls. Any ideas? Thanks.

Look at HardiPlank or HardiPanel cementitious siding. I believe that they have a 50 year warranty.

Thanks. I do like what I see with the HardiPlank. I saw these on a house going up a couple weeks ago. I only wish they didn't require painting which must be done every few years in my area.

Check out http://www.nichiha.com/, I received some free samples from them and it is much thicker and stronger then HardiPlank. I'm checking further for cost and appearance. Let me know what you find out.

I agree....Nichiha is beautiful and maintenance-free. Also, check out http://www.kpproducts.com It's a pre-finished wood fibre siding with a 25 yr warranty and 15 yrs on the finish.

Thanks. What they have on the website looks good. I also came across a product Diamond Kote at our local Menards that is prepainted. Maybe the paint would last more that just a few years. The more I think about it as the fiber cement should not have the paint flake off like it does on wood.

Anyone have cost estimates for HardiPanel or Nichiha?

For us here in NC Nicha is a bit cheaper and the use a good percentage of fly ash price about 5$ for 12' x 8" install is about 1.75 a foot
