Greetings,

My subject is indoor air pollution.  The EPA rates indoor air pollution as one of the deadliest indoor problems yet.  From allergies to upper respiratory problems, these problems are effected us more and more.  I scrolled through the blogs, but nothing to do with indoor air or water pollution so I will bring as much to this subject as possible.

Did you know that indoor air is five to ten times more polluted than outdoor air?  As American families are spending 90% of their time indoors, making this a good topic to discuss.  I have been researching the effects of asthma and allergies and I tell you it is unbelieveable.  From pet dander to carpet glues, we are faced with a real threat and many of us don't know how to deal with it.  An adult inhales roughly one liter of air along with 70,000 particles.  With every deep breath, less than one half of one percent of those particles are visible, 15-16 times a minute could add up.  So I ask how are you protecting your breathing space.

It's interesting you should bring up that the indoor air is 5 to 10 times more polluted then outside air. We have had our last house and now this one tested for just about everything from mold to pollutants to chemicals. They always take and outside sample to compare it to and we have never been worse then outside as a matter of fact we were noticeably better in a number of areas. Granted our house and last one are well ventilated and had above average filtration, but I have often heard that 5 to 10 times worse but have yet to see real numbers backing that up. Again maybe it is just our houses.

Most homes with high numbers like this are those mainly who have a combination of pets, scented candles, etc.  Poor ventilation plays a major factor in this also
