Why not use EPS Foam? It might be a cheaper and better solution for now. |

Maybe they didn't write you back because forgot to put the www, in the address?
Or maybe " they company" is actually private? |

Rebar,
I have watched this company's demonstration of Acoustiblok at the trade show in Orlando . If this new product (ThermaBlok) will work as well as Acoustiblok, then I will really be impressed. I plan to attend the SEBC show at the end of July. I will try to get a sample of Thermablok and watch any demos if available. |

Aerogels have a very high K value, so despite a presumably high price, it may still be cheaper/better to use than sheet goods of lower K value for reducing thermal bridging of framing, particularly in retrofits. Aspen Aerogel has a very similar product:
http://www.aerogel.com/markets/building-framing.html
Aerogels have roughly twice the K-value (10.5-12) as XPS or ISO- at half an inch it's already R5+, so you get about the same performance out of those little stick-on strips as 1" thick sheets of ISO or XPS. And since you don't need a thermal-barrier thickness of gypsum over it (the way you do with sheet goods), the total thickness of finish-wall + bridge-abatement insulation can be 1/2-3/4" thinner. |

Does anyone know how much this material costs? I grow a bit tired and have caution everytime one of those sites says to call for pricing. Why not just tell us the price...it would make things a bit easier in the dicision making process (or at least it would for me). |

Renangle, I can't speak for every manufacturer of a product about their price points or the unwillingness to post prices on a web site. I can tell you, that the raw materials in our case fluctuate on a daily basis, sometimes as much as 25% in a week! Aside from that we like to interact with a customer to be certain their goals are consistent with what our products are able to deliver for their particular needs. We feel, customer interaction early on, avoids confusion in the later days of a project. There we go- Wanting to do it right? |

The product looks very impressive ... but what does it cost? I can not see it being cheep enough to be a main stream construction material. If anyone has received any pricing I would be very interested in the numbers. |

Thermablok costs 99-cents usd per linear foot. All pricing is clearly detailed on the website, www.thermablok.com Or you can call 813-980-1400 for prices and information, or e-mail sales@acoustiblok.com. I don't understand why you think it would not be, er, cheep (sic) enough to be a mainstream constuction material, it absolutely is! Thermablok is not only affordable, it pays for itself in reduced energy costs in the first year. No reason to speculate - visit the website, talk to a tech. Thermablok is a fantastic energy saving insulation product at a completely affordable price. If you're interested in the numbers, they're all avaialble on the Thermablok website. Of course, you can alwways call or e-mail for prices and information. |
