As requested in a previous posting, here are the performance results for the ThermoDrain, a new and innovative residential drain water heat recovery system designed to lower costs and increase savings.

Here are the ThermoDrain drain water heat recovery performance numbers from our research and development lab.

These numbers are preliminary and have not been verified by a 3rd party.

Testing by a 3rd party is being commissioned and will be available in 6 months and will posted on our website.

Based on our preliminary test numbers posted below, the 40 inch length ThermoDrain has an efficiency of 50.9% at 9.5L/min in equal flow.

As of July 2009, the ThermoDrain is available through most plumbers and plumbing wholesalers and this is why we do not post pricing on the our website. Present MSRP for the ThermoDrain is $495 plus shipping and taxes.

9kw recovery @ 2gpm, that's ~30KBTU/hr- more than the burner output of many tank HW heaters, which isn't bad (except that it enables to take ridiculously long, even endless showers! :-) )

What are the drain & potable pipe connection diameters on this 40-incher?

And the pressure drop at 1.5, 2.5, & 3.5gpm flow is...?

If those numbers are confirmed in the third party testing it looks like it will compete head to head with (and handily beat the performance of) the slightly longer 4" x 42" PowerPipe, (which would indeed be set a new standard):

This unit has 3 inch drain connectors and comes with 1/2" or 3/4" freshwater connectors.

The pressure drop at 9.5L/min  was 6 PSI.

Actually, the Thermodrain is in direct competition with the Powerpipe 3" x 48" inch model $611 at home depot.
