For those of you asking why ThermoDrain or Eco-GFX units do not have a 3rd party certification, it is because it does not yet exist for the technology. We do manufacture our products using ASTM pre-certified plumbing components and therefore the Eco-GFX and ThermoDrain comply with the plumbing code and do not require 3rd party certification. We have also received waivers from state and provincial building authorities for 3rd party certification requirements until one has been developed.

So why does Watercyles, Powerpipe and GFXTechnology have 3rd party certification?

Note: gfxtechnology and Watercycles both hold the same certification as Renewability, difference is the company that certified the product.

This e-mail was sent to me last week by "Gbcomp" who posted in the forum topic "gfxtechnology vs powerpipe". It was posted in the forum and was then removed. Here it is again....

Searching for file number MH29466, I see that the file is held by the company Renewability Energy Inc.  It appears that their Power-Pipe Series heat exchangers are listed as Specialty Heating-Cooling Appliance Accessories under UL Category Code MJAT (USA) and MJAT7 (Canada), but they do not appear to be certified to any drinking water safety standards.

I recommend that you contact the company that owns the file; contact information is viewable in the Directory entry.  Due to confidentiality practices, we cannot share any file details except the general information available in the Certification Directory.

Thank you for contacting UL.  Should you have any further questions, please feel free to email me again or give me a call.

Sincerely,
