Dear Experts I have been looking for plastic tilt+turn windows for years and can't find an affordable solution. The only guys I found import them from Germany and one company in PA but they use aluminum, which I am not very fond of. There has to be someone in this country making them! Does anyone know a manufacturer?

If you are dead set on tilt & turn, then I know of NO American manufacturer that makes them. You will have to get an import like Intus which makes uPVC tilt&turn. Remember, tilt&turn are a European thing, not a U.S. thing.

If you are OK with casements, then there are A LOT of U.S. manufacturers that make them.

Either way, if you go with vinyl/uPVC make it MANDATORY to buy ones that have steel reinforced channels. A window that is all vinyl with no steel reinforcements will warp and twist and are structurally inferior to a steel channel reinforced window. In other words, they are garbage IMHO.

You can check out T&T Windows or also go for INLES USA.

thanks so much for all replies! I am not stuck on t&t but I find those windows are 'smarter' than the others because they wont damage their own seal when opening and closing. They are better insulated and structurally better. What sucks about t&t is you can't open them just 'a little' like a double hung. Wasco looks promising, thanks for the suggestion! I agree that a good window has to be made out of plastic with steel reinforcement. Wood? Maybe if it was 1900... ;-) I bought out of necessity a HD window and another one from "Window world". These were the worst windows I have seen in my life. I would rather pay 4x the price and get something decent. I can't believe they are sold everywhere. I'll have to trash them again once I find a decent window. It's one of the worst nightmares indeed. The windows ruin their own weather strips when opened and closed. Their insulation values are terrible. I get condensation and the window maker blames the RH in the house. I am like, here dude take a laser thermometer and check the damn temperature on the window. No wonder it condensates. I would have to reduce the interior humidity to 20% to avoid it, and that's obviously not going to work. All the 5-10 year old windows in my house cracked open at all welding joints. Even the new windows show signs of cold welding, it's obvious the joints will fail pretty soon. It's like a built-in point of failure I guess to sell more windows in the future. Don't want to offend anyone but when it comes to household appliances and everything that has to do with home construction and household....I get seriously homesick :)

I have researched this for a while, and decided to go with an importer of alu clad wood windows from Austria. Absolutely great.

I finally found a local manufacture of tilt turn windows. It took me a long time to find them. The company is called Genex windows and has been making them in Warren Michigan for a couple of years now. www.genexwindows.com. I’m extremely happy that they worked with me on the glass option because I wanted a sound proof window with a high STC rating. Genex built me a custom 1 3/8in triple pain with one glass laminated. I live next to 11 mile road and these windows stopped the traffic noise. Its a vinyl window with steel reinforcement. I think the window hardware is the Rehau 4500 series. Has a compression sealed sash with two weather seals, the R value is around 4-5. Sorry for the late post but I only just now found and installed the windows.
