I am getting conflicting opinions on what to use for the ceiling insulation on my 2 story ICF home. My architect is a big fan of open cell sprayed on the inside of the roof. Given at least an R30 R38 preferred that is a lot of foam. My HVAC guy who is the best I have found is suggesting fiberglass bats or blown fiberglass to at least an R38 above the ceiling. I am agnostic on the choice and interested in hearing from other experts. Both of them don't recommend closed cell foam on the bottom of the roof. Lots of humidity in the summers where I live in Zone 2. Thanks

Where is your airhandler and ductwork going to be located? How do you intend to construct your roof? What pitch?

6/12 roof, air handlers to be provided in almost the center of the first floor and 2nd floor. Roof is conventional stick with plywood, strapping for hurricane zone, peel and stick 0n the plywood with concrete flat tiles.
Right now the air handler location is what my HVAC expert and architect have on the plans but nothing is final. Duct work most likely through the joist which for the 2nd floor will be 2ft thick. Returns not sure of yet, some discussion of using ceiling for 2nd floor and joist for the first floor. Wright-soft SW for Manual J calculation. I am expecting my engineering drawing as we speak. HVAC expert provided me two notebooks on various articles and experiments in Florida using both open foam and fiberglass insulation. To be honest it seems like a wash to me except for the amount of open cell that would need applied to obtain R-30 to 38.
Will report back once I have the engineering drawings but what is stated above is where the current air handlers are suggested for location and the geothermal, DSH, electrical panels in a 13ft by 9ft mechanical room located up against a outside wall.
Appreciate any input pro or con on either method suggested...
