Would like to go solar rather than use generator in the woods. Does anyone have suggestion for the best solar system to run lights, heat and one small appliance in a cabin @300 square feet? Thank you for your time.I have looked at uni-kit by uni-solar but also saw a roof panel system.

Not an expert, but you need to quantify the electrical needs. Look at the wattage requirements for the items you want, add them up, and it's a start towards sizing the system you need. I think there are other issues, i.e., dc lights versus a converter and ac lights. You really need to find a contractor you can trust in your area to help. The type of system is somewhat incidental - the power requirements are what you need to determiine as it will determine your cost.

Does your State have any kind of rebate or tax relief program? If so, they usually will have lists of approved contractors. That could be a start, especially if part of your costs can be rebated at the state level (there are federal deductions in effect I believe until the end of this year).
