First off, thanks for this great site.  Lots of great info that allows me to have an educated discussion with my future builder.  I'm going to be building in SW Florida and doing some research on windows and doors.  This will be my fourth home..so..I've learned a few things along the way.

Typical builder contract grade doors SUCK!..they almost always rot at the bottom of the casings due to water and sun.  I've heard they make door frames/casings out of a trex material that is already white.  Do any companies make them in a thermal door suitable for Florida and if so..what manufactures should I look at?  Are there any specs like windows (SHGC, U, VL and AL)?

In Florida it seems PGT is a big manufacture..however their name does not even show up on the Energy Collaborative site....are they that bad?

Are there local (SW Florida) manufactures of quality door/windows..or will I be ordering?

Last, but not least.  I think I remember reading about framing your windows/doors with TREK vs. wood..to mediate thermal loss...anyone doing this..or a better product?

Thanks in advance

Does anyone have experience using MgO siding, how does it compare to cement fiber?

yes, I am just starting to promote the stuff and want to learn what people think. From my research it looks very promising.
