We would like to dampen the sounds in a bathroom that is right off the living room. We wondered if there is an ecologically, healthful (no chemical fumes) sort of ceiling finish that might help. Anybody have any ideas? THANKS -TVZ

the first step would be to weatherstrip the bathroom door with some EDPM gaskets and a good door sweep. Treat it like an exterior door. these gaskets may need to be cut in, so it may involved a good handyman if you cannot do the work yourself. Sealing the door will help a lot, then you can see what other steps you'll lneed to take.

Thanks Bob! I am planning to do that. In fact, we thought we might replace our light hollow-core door w/ something more substantial, as well. Now I'm looking into the other steps I might be able to take.

I think Bob's right on. Most people want to treat the wall, but the door is usually a bigger culprit.
