Anyone aware of what's up with the L Prize bulb? The price appears to be going up instead of down. Amazon currently lists it for $299.00, or $99.99 or $38.50 with only 2 left on that last 'cheaper' choice. I can't even find it on most other websites (Earth LED or Home Depot). I thought the price was supposed to drop after it came out

I contacted Philips. Apparently the reason is that it has been discontinued - so if you want one buy it now. Below is the answer from customer care. It appears that they just couldn't make it cheaply enough. Thank you for contacting Philips Lighting Customer Care. Our Product Manager has responded with the following in regards to your inquiry: We used the knowledge gained from the L-prize to develop new bulbs that provide excellent lighting effect and are more affordable. The L-prize lamp was around $50 while new bulbs are less than $10 encouraging greater adoption and thus greater energy savings overall. If you are in need of further assistance, please reply to this e-mail or contact our Philips Lighting Customer Care Team at 1-800-372-3331.
