Price is $1800,  $600 less than Accelera 300.   Has GE figured these things out by now?  Obviously more efficient and less expensive than Stiebel Eltron sounds attractive.

Also, it's shorter, which I like.  My ceilings are not huge in the basement.

It also has a 'cold weather' mode that allows it to meet northern climate energy standards as well...This is the unit I'm considering for an install in central Washington state!

Installed this unit in garage in eastern Washington State (98942). Very happy with it thus far. Relatively quiet, very efficient...So far so good! We have had a very hot summer so it has run great in heat pump only mode heating the water to 140dF. The real test will be as we transition to fall and winter with much cooler temps.

Does anyone know if the GE GeoSpring will ever run in resistance mode if you have manually selected "Heat pump only" ?
I wonder because I haven't heard the heat pump run since I started it up for the first time a week ago. It might just be that I don't notice it because it's in the basement or we're just not using enough hot water yet.

ok nevermind - we just didn't have enough demand to make the compressor run. Gave the kids a bath, and 2 showers this morning and it's been running for a while, but no shortage of hot water.
