Hi there!  I registered a while back but have not had much time to read as I have been working.  While I was out of town my wife found us a place here in Memphis.  It was a foreclosure and we got a fairly good deal on it. It was built in 1959 and fairly well-maintained but will need refurbishment over the next few years.

We do have a couple of immediate items so I would like to hear contractor recommendations from anyone local:  Roofing, specifically built-up roof with gravel     Also HVAC

My father was a GC and I have been around construction since I was a kid, having grown up piddling around in a passive-solar workshop.

Oh and greetings Alton!  I was a LA major at the end of the last century.

Stormchaser,

Did you go through LA at Auburn University and did you take my class or Pyron's.  I retired in 2004 from the School of Architecture.

Alton; Yes I was at the CADC but did not take your class, I had LA classes and mostly CP for electives.

In addition to new roof, HVAC, windows, siding etc. I will also be doing some retrofit for earthquake resistance (partial basement with crawlspace).

Alton,

I am a SIP's builder here in Lee County and in need of a designer. Would you be interested in showcasing some designs on my website?

I can be reached at 706-315-4300.

Actually, I''m a bit surprized to find a forward thinker so close.
