I started doing my roofing today and I'm using Malarkey Legacy rubberized asphalt laminate (I know their not very green but I'm doing it myself and don't know how to do anything else). I tried cutting them with a hook blade and it's not working to well, they're too thick. Does anyone have any idea what roofers use to cut these thing with? I don't want to spend a fortune but my arm can't take this anymore.

Thanks,
Sean

a portable shear might work or you mightfind that a usings a straight blade to score and snap will work better than a hook

Use a straight blade and score the back side, and snap. Don't try to cut all the way through with one pass.
It's not necessary.

One end I always cut to a size I determined to not repeat the pattern more than every three courses and not to leave a sliver on the other end, if gable. But the other end I cut with a circular saw and an old or cheap blade, makes a neat cut, but wear eye and ear protection.

And use a backer board, because if you even scratch a good shingle with the knife it will deteriorate much faster than an undamaged shingle.
