The whole idea of a multiple 2x beam is that you can build it on the post in pieces. It will be easier than building on the ground and lifting it in place. You will end up with a better beam since your post will be level but the ground won't.

Hi FBBP:

I just thought that you would like to know that the beams are completed and installed.

I used the information from your post plus PL Premium construction adhesive. I actually built the first 4 sections (2 per beam length) in a friends garage and transported them to the house site. We stuck one end of the first section of Bean #1 into the foundation notch, held it level and  cut a 6x6 PT post for the unsupported end. We use 16' 1x3's to brace it and then applied PL to where it would splice with the next section. We slid the next section into place, setup post #2 and nailed the splice. We then built the final section in place and installed the final post. We repeated the procedure for beam # 2

It all worked out perfectly and neither of us strained our backs!

I placed 2x10 floor joists at 16" oc over the beams and then 5/8" PointSIX Durastrand Flooring OSB (glued & screwed) on top of them - now I've got a super solid floor!

Thanks again for the great set of instructions! :)

Rob.
