Hi. I'm trying to plan advanced framing on a house I'm designing.
I'd like to see if my understanding about on center spacing is correct. For example, my house is 40' on the long side. So if I start at the corner, the first stud should be 2' from the edge of the foundation (not the center of the corner stud). The following studs should all be 2' OC from the center of the previous stud, all the way to the second to last stud which should be 2' from the edge of the foundation.
The short side of the house is 18'. Since I'm dealing with the corner studs of the long wall, after the first stud is placed perpendicular from the corner stud of the long wall, the second stud would be 6 1/4" OC from the edge of the foundation which is repeated on the opposite corner as well no? Then from there, it's up to me to deal with the left over space (from my calculations 11") in the layout of this wall. In this case I just have one stud bay 11" wide, while the rest are 2' OC.
Since the window placement relies heavily on this I don't want to be off from the start. Am I on the right track?
