As ICFs are growing in popularity with consumers, contractors are learning to integrate the material into their businesses. Concrete contractors are in a particularly good position to take on ICFs by already having the working knowledge of how to build concrete walls. ICFs are appealing to contractors also by having to use less equipment, and fewer people for installation. And the stay-in-place forms are a nice fit for builders looking to get into residential and commercial green building systems, since ICFs can be used toward certification on green building projects. Also, many contractors find ICF customers to be a different breed, generally being construction-educated people who have done their research and are building higher dollar homes.
