Has anyone here used ICF construction with NovaBrik siding on the outside walls? I don't like the look of stucco and regular mortared brick seems too expensive. NovaBrik appears to be a good compromise.

Hi Grzelakc.

I did my house with ICF and my side and back walls are in Novabrik side walls are 30 x 20 full no windows
and the back is 53 x 20 with 2 patio doors and 6 windows. 6 friends 2 mither saw and 3 w-e later all done !

Do not use a wet saw to cut them! you will lose a hell of a lot of time cleaning them up before installing them!
Sure you use 25% more blades but way less time ...

The front of the house is stone, so what i did i made the stone turn the corner and laid the Novabrick along the edge
and calked it.

If you want fotos lemme know.

and calked it.

And you caulked this with what type of sealant to provide you with years of service??

I am well aware that ICFs are literally not affected bt water intrusion, however, I am also cautious of this type of detail if there are freeze/thaw cycles!

Yes, " And Caulked it " lolll

I used the Caulking suggested by NovaBrik and if I remember right it's a Bulldog product that comes in
different colors. The seals around the house are checked every year ( most people forhet about this, until theres a leak ).

So far ( 7 years ) no crack in the mentionned product, would've liked to say the same about the sillicone used by my soffit guy.....

The caulking by the way was only esthetic. I found that since the artificial stone ( In french they call it, " face eclate " )
was not exactly the same length, the finishing touch made it come all together... Well enough for them to put my house
on their website lollll

The bottom starter Blade is positionned over a " Solin " like any other brick/stone wall if any water was to infiltrate
from a crack or a soffit ( gotta be a massive thunderstorm ) the weeping holes would evacuate the water.

I'll drop in a few photo's tonight to put everyone at ease lolll Meanwhile... First house on that page is mine

A picture is worth a thousand words ?...

Ps: Btw. NovaBrik is coming out with a new brick with a smoother surface this summer, We saw it
at our local Building Fair in March. FYI :)

Francis,
Thanks for your informative reply. Any chance of seeing any pictures of the smooth NovaBrik? Do you know if they are planning to sell it in Canada too? North of the border we're often a season or two behind the US with things like that.

Hi Again,

Actually I'm in Quebec myself, and It's at the Montreal Fair that I saw this new brick... Frankly I find
it so so, I like the actual product better and they did change the corners which we're a little hard
to align with the old ancrage system.

If you are near Montreal, feel free to come by and have a look.. There's several house with Nova-Brik
around here...

Francis
