Has anyone attempted to attach cedar lap siding to ICF forms? If so, what are the do's and dont's of doing this. IntegraSpec forms have a plastic firring strip in them every 8" that according to the manual will accept a screw or ring shanked nail. A local installer told me that the nails will not hold. Can anyone expand on this. Thank you.

I know BuildBlock ICF's have furring strips every 6" and their corner blocks have a extra plastic 2.5" strip to screw to as well as a hole in the corner that a standard piece of 3/4 inch schedule 40 pvc pipe can be inserted into it to have an extra screwing point. I've used it and it worked well with lap siding..

Most ICF's hold nails at an equivalent as wood! Remember that a stick built wall is covered with a construction barrier i.e. tyvek type product. That means you can't see the stud and in general your nailing to the o.s.b. Ask any accomplished sider about ICF and they will tell you nails hold more than sufficient in most ICF ties/web and that they would rather do a ICF siding project any day than stick, because the walls are not wavy and their job looks better.
They make nails with ring shank for all air nailer's for this purpose and also you can hand nail with rings or hot dipped. Nail one in the tie/web and pull it our verse o.s.b and see the difference for your self. It's negligible.

RS Nails work just fine with ICFs!
Your installer is not familar with ICFs and their attachment methods, so the comments being negative are his way out.
