 I talked with the Amvic rep here in Calgary today and he was telling me that the blocks that have the 6 inches of concrete is enough for a two story. Does that sound like enough???

Sip's on the upper floors and cathedral ceilings.

Sean,

Assuming that you don't have any significant backfill (if below) grade for the 1st floor you can go two stories with a 6" ICF. You may need to get it stamped by an engineer though.

I consistently build 3 stories with 6", 2 story plus basement. As far as back-fill I have been told by an engineer that put together "generic" engineering for a local ICF distributors that a 6" reinforced per the back-fill table is as strong as a 8" re inforced per their table.

Thanks for the replies, he seemed to know what he was talking about, that's great. I think I've been watching too much Holmes on Homes and don't want to get burned.
