Hello again,
Well, we figured out a way to go ICF for all our walls. (Previously I posted about our house that was started with an ICF basement and we had planned stick framed for the rest.)
Anyway, the first floor walls were poured early last week and the second floor on Friday. This weekend we noticed a crackling - rice crispie-like sound, coming from the walls. It's not loud but if all is quiet it can be heard.
Normal? If not, thoughts?
Will talk to the guys on Tuesday but would love some second opinions!
Thanks!

Was this during the first evening after the pour? Had the temp dropped a fair bit between sun up and sun down?
Kinda scares ya huh? |

I heard the same sound, I think for several days or weeks, or was it beginning several days or weeks, after the pour? I don't remember! I just figured it had to do with expansion & contraction of the foam or the concrete, or whatever, due to sun and temperature changes. Didn't worry about it, but it was an interesting sound. Since nothing ever broke I'd say it's nothing to worry about. Just enjoy it!

Well, we weren't really scared - curious though. Especially because we did not notice it when the basement was poured.
Thanks for the reassurances! |

I heard that same sound after we poured our walls. When the sun would shine on the walls you could here the crackeling, then when the sun went down you would hear it again. I guessed at the time it was expansion and contraction. Now that the roof is on I don't hear it anymore. |
