Be sure to watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on November 15, 2009 on ABC for our big Insulated Concrete Form debut on national television. Parks ICF Wall Systems has partnered with Burke Concrete, Miller & Long, and NUDURA to complete two buildings in less than 21 Hours!

Buildblock did one last Sept. They show the product for about 10 seconds between 50 commercials.

How much time do they allow for set up and pour? Do they start the remaining construction immedietly after the pour?

ditto what smartwall said. They tend to spend more TV time on decorating than the construction!

The structure is where it's at, the decorating.....who cares.

The Build Block project in Vermont last year was coordinated so that the interior wall framing was being installed at the same time the ICF's were being stacked. The slab was poured and then finished w/i a couple of hours with excellerants in the concrete to allow for this fast track. Very interesting.

The ICF home was prebuilt off site, cut into large pieces, loaded onto flatbed trucks, and hoisted into the "pit" using a large crane. Helix was used instead of steel rebar and accelerants allowed workers to immediately place the green plate and begin framing after the pour. Parks ICF Wall Systems is heavily involved in leading the nation towards Green Building techniques. In fact, we are currently building the nations first two "net-zero" energy schools in the nation in Bowling Green, KY.

Well, we feel that we are leading the nation. In fact, the use of ICF in schools has been getting alot of press attention. For example, Randy Wilkerson in ICF Builder Magazine writes about the use of ICF in schools and how it is "reinvent(ing) our businesses." We are proud to be involved in these projects as they are not just a couple of "net-zero" buildings just sitting there. They are environmental learning schools. They boast features such as a geo-thermal hallway with exposed plumbing and hardware so the children can learn about the systems. A solar hallway provides locations for laptop charging stations powered completely by solar power alone. The ICF construction is being used in every aspect of the building in order to increase its efficiency.

Hey everyone. Tried to post earlier, but it didn't take. Talked to ABC and apparently there is a difference between the episode numbers they film and the episode numbers they show. They said our episode has been pushed out until sometime in January and will be a 2-hour special. We'll keep you updated!
