It would be interesting to have a roll call from those who regularly buy, or who have recently bought concrete and find out what everyone is paying.

Of course the price changes depending on how much you buy and what mix. But you know, on average, what are you paying for a cubic yard of concrete (and in what general geographical area if you don't mind adding that).

It would be very helpful to me, and I'm sure to others, to hear the results. So come on, what are you paying?

$71.50 for 3500 p.s.i. mix, but understand that we as the ICF distributor cut these deals with the suppliers under a 2000 plus yd a year understanding. If one of our customers that doesn't use concrete on a regular basis purchased without our deal they would pay around 90.00. This is just another advantage we offer over our competition. We are in Michigan and I know of friends who pay 59.00 in Wisconsin.

$95.00 per yd. for the 3000 psi ICF mix. Used to be $105 about 4 months ago! We have the same deal as walltech. Aligned with a ready mix supplier and we can provide our customers a "package" deal that equates to about $84 a yd.

Yeah I was quoted $110 per yard (3500psi, pea gravel icf mix) a few months ago. Right now were right around $90-100 depending on the supplier. $84 is a very good price. Its amazing the price differences across the country.

Wow! I'm glad to see it coming back down in price! Last time I purchased some(9 months ago), I paid 120/yrd for the driveway. Now I wish gas would come back down to earth!!

Amazing how it fluctuates. I guess the price probably changes with the season, too. In winter when construction slows down in some places the price may be cheaper than in the warmer months?

I wonder if the prices have backed down any on the gulf coast? I know they were outrageous for a while after all the destruction.

Why doesn't that surprise me? Hell, everything in that area is expensive. What's the going price for a 1/4 acre lot? Yea, I know, we don't want to know!

Hi all,

As you might guess, I speak to mud orderers throughout the US and Canada. The range I am given has been $68 (from the brother-in-law) in OK to $245 for an island off the coast of NC. National average would be about $100/cu yd for 3,000-3,500 psi. Interesting stuff!

If anybody is interested in calculating concrete cost in various senarios this Concrete Cost Per Yard tool seems to work pretty good. I found that it works better in the firefox browser.

I was quoted a few weeks ago at $105 per cu yd here in Spokane, Washington. Though they said depending on the order amount, they could get it the price under $100.

The "ICF mix" that I used here in KY has small pea gravel instead of crushed stone also it has alot of cement. It cost about $2 or $3 a yard more than a standard 4000 psi mix. it sets up lightning fast, even inside an ICF wall, for some reason.

Best I remember I was paying about $83/yard for it during the summer, but I know it has gone up some more with fuel cost.

I'll be intersted to see if the "ICF mix" is the same other places.

Greg

I would expect these prices to go up even further depending on delivery area since oil hit $109 barrel today. Gas prices continue to go up.

I just got my current pricing it breaks down like this...

25 Mpa (3625 Psi) is $204.90  a cubic meter

for 14mm aggregate (ICF mix) add $13.00

Winter heat (October thru April) adds $20.00

Environmental fee adds $4.00

This leaves a cubic meter at $241.90 if required between October and April)

or a low $221.90 in the summer.

A cubic yard is about .76 cubic meter...

Winter concrete = $183.84
Summer Conrete = $168.64

Location is Northern Alberta, Canada

The price of concrete is what is really detering me from using ICF all the way to the roof, I feel that I can build a good efficient home far cheaper using other methods.  Don't flame me, I agree that ICF is a great system, however, concrete costs are staggering here.

Do most of the prices include pumping or is getting/arranging pump extra?

I have always found pumping to be an extra charge regardless where the project was located.  I have not heard of any ready-mix companies that furnish pumping services.  One thing that I have found that varies is that some pumping companies will not furnish the personnel for pumping.  That is, people on my crew had to handle the hose.  Furnishing your own labor and paying a pumping company is almost like double jeopardy.

Yah, got a quote of 100 per yard and $400 bucks extra for pumper (assuming one truckload). I only need about 10 yards as it is a small addition. (Winona, MN BTW) Actually though it is the same company, it was two calls. Thanks-ck

Is there any difference in the strength/quality of the concrete when using 3/8" smooth river gravel vs. 3/4" crushed stone? Those are essentially my two options here for my ICF walls. This is assuming both are a 3500 psi mix. I know the smooth 3/8" gravel will flow better in the ICF wall cavities, but it seems to me that the cement will bond better to the fractured edges of the crushed stone. Any thoughts?

We always use 57 granite stone.  It does make a stronger concrete and at the same time vibrates better.  We have had 3,000 PSI no. 57 granite ICF walls core drilled and they test at 9,000 PSI.

In Alberta,Canada for the LaFarge ICF mix 25 mpa 1/2 inch agg we are paying $208.00/meter. Thats why I use Hobbs Vertical ICF because I can use 40% less than a standard 6" ICF block.

If you need more strength you should specify it, don't count on something extra (which you will probably get in any case unless the mix is badly mishandled). Go with the aggregate that is appropriate for the job. Aggregate type, size and gradation are important considerations for good workability In your case, I would select 3/8. Bruce
