Hi,
I have searched through the archives and seen a number of posts where the steel joist were cast directly into the wall during the foundation pour. We are interested in trying this technique.

Does anyone have a picture handy of the embedded joist either before or after the pour?

I am curious how much cover is required over the top of the joist? I need to check with my engineer, but I would prefer to have the top of joist flush with top of the concrete.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Check out lite-deck, it may be what you are trying to do.

As far as coverage, That answer is a factor of engineering. Determine and a solution can be engineered.

Part of the original post was lost. The application is light gauge cold formed steel joists 24" o.c. (Dietrich or Marino/Ware) supporting plywood subfloor and finished floor.

I have seen the CMU detail were the joists are supported in a pocket formed between blocks then mortared in place. Should be similar for cast in place ICF. Still would like to see a picture of a finished wall.

Here's one with I-beams in wall, simpson clips in place, ledger screwed to clips, floor joists in place, plywood around perimeter for placement of concrete

Thanks,
Any chance you could email those pictures? They are tough to see and lose resolution when I zoom in.
