I have searched through the archives and seen a number of posts where the steel joist were cast directly into the wall during the foundation pour. We are interested in trying this technique.

Does anyone have a picture handy of the embedded joist either before or after the pour?

I am curious how much cover is required over the top of the joist? I need to check with my engineer, but I would prefer to have the top of joist flush with top of the concrete.

What are you trying to accomplish?

As far as coverage, That answer is a factor of engineering. Determine and a solution can be engineered.

Part of the original post was lost. The application is light gauge cold formed steel joists 24" o.c. (Dietrich or Marino/Ware) supporting plywood subfloor and finished floor.

I have seen the CMU detail were the joists are supported in a pocket formed between blocks then mortared in place. Should be similar for cast in place ICF. Still would like to see a picture of a finished wall.
