Seth,
Some of the basic pros for building with panels for an addition are 1) speed/efficiency of the build, and 2) energy efficiency of the addition. In the speed of the build, your house (that you're probably already living in) is disturbed for only a few days of hammering and pounding. That gets old at 7am after a few weeks. Secondly, you'll need to confirm with a HVAC contractor, or better yet, a mechanical engineer, to calculate the additional load requirements on your existing HVAC system. Often times mechanical units are already oversized. If this is the case, you may not need to increase capacity of existing equipment, due to the limited infiltration and energy efficiency of the SIPs. |
