I was wondering if there is anyone with experience building with SIPS in Central Florida.  I would like to know what panel manufacturer people have used in this area and their experiences.  I've also seen some of the altenative skins (non-osb like metal or fiber cement) and would like to know if anyone has built with one of these.  If anyone has information along these lines I would appreciate your feedabck

Insulated Component structures of Florida in Eustis is one. Never delt with them: http://www.ics-sips-fl.com/Index.htm There is also Homne Front Homes in Ft. Meyers. Never delt with then either: http://homefronthomes.com/construction1.htm Search the forum posts back for about three months. Someone ask about concrete fiber faced SIPS for export to the Bahamas. I believe that there was also a manufacturer in Vero Beach. I am sure that the must be many more. I live 30 miles from Vero Beach and never knew that ther was a plant there. Too bad there is not more press or effort of the manucfactures to get the word around. Home Front Homes made some good press after Hurricane Charlie a couple of years ago. Seems to have ended there.

Home Front Homes is located in Englewood, FL, they make Fiber Cement SIP, they are expanding into the LA, MS area to help those people rebuild from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  I've heard nothing but good things about this company.

ACTech Panels made by Alternative Construction Company out of Melboure FL makes Steel SIP.  This Panel has a Florida Building Code Approval Number to use the panels for both walls and roof applications.

I was hoping to find someone who has personally built a house in Central Florida and what their experiences have been.  Even secondhand information would be appreciated.  I know of several local manufacturers but I don't know of anyone currently building (or who has built) sips in this area.

Thanks

Hi Chuck,
EZ-Build Systems builds in Florida. We have done projects in many different areas of Florida; the most recent being Palmetto.  We built two SIPs homes (with OSB skins) on piers there.  The owner loved the product. We are currently working on one going to Port Charlotte.  The walls for the two homes in Palmetto went up in a matter of hours. These projects saved the builder time and $$$.  We are also advertising our tubular steel system to areas in Florida that do not want to use any wood in their buildings.  You can use SIPs with our steel frame system.  Our experiences have been good with our builds in Florida...the only challenge sometimes is the time it takes to get a permit in the hurricane zone, but we have succeeded with permits for this area as well.  Hope this helps.  888-755-2539

Hi Chuck,
I am in the permitting process for an addition in Vero Beach using fiber cement skinned SIPs by Affordable Building Technologies.  I'd be happy to provide the contact info for the company's owner if you're interested.  He's also built a small model in Vero that's worth checking out.

Best Regards

I know a veteran of SIP construction that lives in the Leesburg area (Fruitland Park). He's semi retired and likes to help people out with their SIP projects. He has a 10 acre homestead and has built many metal SIP buildings for himself as well as others. There are also several metal SIP houses dotted about the area he has done. He is still well connected in the industry and could be a resource to you for metal SIPs and can also help you with your design. Contact me privately and I will give you his contact info.

Can you tell us more specifically what your project is and where it will be built?
