OK the manufacturer I know of is ThermaSave. The panels use a fiber cement board skin with a thickness of 7/16".  They say that these panels can be used below grade attached to the footing serving as the foundation.(in my case used as an insulated crawl space). They could also be used in a monolithic manor from the footing to the wall height with any needed % below grade (seemes to be a good deterant for termites ect.) and no thermal break. Roof and floor panels are also available. Has anyone worked with this type panel and what can you tell me about them? And does anyone know the cost! Is anybody else making them? THANKS STEVE

Hey Steve, The product you are looking at works for some of the things you are asking about. The cost of the panels varies from the plant you get them from so you must deal with the one closest to you, they will not cross territories. Be carefull of the details in handling the product they break if mishandled. Themasave is the brand you mentioned and who I am refering to. Other companies will make panels from fibercement but keep in mind that the longest panel is only 12 foot. This is not an issue for walls and floors but it is for a roof, but you can always use osb for the roof panels. Also you will not put shingles on a fibercement roof. I tried for several months to work with the Themasave plant in North Alabama but they would not give me a panel conctract or return phone calls so I chose a different company. Where are you planning to build the home at.
Thanks Sam

Sam: I will be building in North Carolina near Rockingham,Pinehurst,in Scotland County. They emailed me right away and I called them and spoke to the owner Hoot. I am impressed with the use of them below grade. It woud save me alot of time and some money not to mention those pesky termites. But exterior sheathing and roofing materials are a concern. I guess I would have to use brick or ? I was told there may be a plant in NC soon but he didnt say where. I was almost set on an icf foundation with osb sips from there up but this is a new twist and im not sure now? OSB roof sips seems to be right thanks. Any suggestions will help. THANKS STEVE

You can also use steel SIPs that create a white pre-finished soffit at the same time they are installed
