I have been trying to find several Sips mfg in North Carolina/South Carolina....I'm in the Charlotte area.  I found only one so far. Can anyone recommend several to get quotes from? I plan on using ICF for the walls and Sips(maybe) for the roof.

Thanks

Hey Robin,

If you go to the toolbar to the left and fill out the form "Find a SIP Professional" you should get good response. I sent an inquiry a little over a week ago and already have quotes from 4 companys in hand with three more coming soon. I am also in charlotte where i own Brawley's Beverage. I am building a small three story sip cottage on Superior Walls foundation in Denver NC on Lake Norman. Please feel free to call so can exchange experiences. Thanks Michael Brawley 704 605 0577

Michael,

I did that last night and the only SIPS mfg came up were in Vir. Were you able to find any in the Carolinas?? I had been thinking about using SIPS for the roof but on the other thread here about that, the cost is prohibitive. I'm still going with ICF for the walls thou.
Congrats on your house at Lake Norman! Waterfront lots these days are going for insane prices! I'm over in Belmont and the waterfront lots at Reflection Point have gone thru the roof. These days, only millionaires can afford to actually live lake front........:(

Robin;

Steel SIPs are the natural choice done on this ICF walled home

The finished underside of the skin is white steel that serves as the finished soffit too.

project was done by Marquis Const. which also services NC and anything south of the Mason-Dixon line

Great construction pics - I had to go to the main site and navigate from there. How great a distance can one steel SIP panel span from a ridge beam to a load bearing wall without having a purlin in between? Let's say the roof is a simple 12 in 12 gable.

Jelly,

Each company's panel will vary in composition which will determine span.  With a steep pitch like 12 to 12, the span should be greater than in a flatter pitch, in my opinion.  It is best to verify spans with the SIP manufacturer.

Jelly;

Our company did the Reitberger panels,   depending on wind load a 6" roof panel

@140 mph about - 19 ft.
@130     about 21 ft.
@120     about 23 ft.
@ 110    about 25 ft.
@ 100    about 28 ft

we would be happy to bid on robinnc panels and can be contacted at 1-877-321- SIPS

Robin, you should also consider spray foam with stick rafters.
