I am building a new polyurethane SIP shop this summer and am trying to decide between an ICF foundation or a conventional foundation that benefits from 2" of foam applied on the inner edge like what is done at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hb6CvHgoJM. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I think the video is old school the cost is higher and more labor than IFC.

I'm planning one now doing the foundation with 2 by's and placing the IFC on supports on top of those forms, one pour thru the IFC kinda filling the foundation, wait a bit to let the foundation setup some then fill the IFC

here's a drawing

thats not what your detail is showing , the footer would be poured first , then set the ICF on top of the hardened footer

Or use a frost protected shallow foundation and you don't have any footer at all - just a slab with turned down edges.

smartwall, I don't see how that is a possibility, since there would be earth against an unpoured ICF form? can you show the detail on that?

I use a system that I developed, but there is a commercially available version from Branch River Plastics in RI. I think it is called Fast Form. When I came up with the idea for a mono pour system 11 years ago, I thought when that worked why not use it with frost walls with a slab. It's actually not that crazy. You just have to use the right products.
