Cost are hard to nail down. It would be easy if suppliers just said 3 bucks a square and then you can figure the rest. I went thru the pains myself trying to quote jobs having no real idea of the cost of these great green products. It's not like you can run down to your nearest big box retailers and start figuring it out on your own. I lost alot of jobs cause a home owner wants to do something different and I'm willing to try but can't give a solid quote.

Good luck with your project.

Herschelt, I've been asked that question many times. People have a wide range of home needs and desires. 2 bedroom, 4 bedroom, garage, no garage, ranch style, two story or split level. And no matter how many kit plans you come up with, someone will want something else. Then on top of that is that local codes have different requirements as far as R-values, snow loads and wind loads. Then add delivery charges to the mix. Challenging to say the least. The best bet is to find a reputable business that will provide you with a free estimate for a SIP package delivered to your site.

I used to have stock plans listed on my website .... never sold one!
most everyone wants something custom
I hate when some asks for a per square foot "ballpark","I won't hold you to it"
,yes they will hold you to it.
But when you are "guestimating" something ,sight unseen, invariably the customer will leave out little details like: 12 ft. walls, dormers or a 12/12 pitch.
I always prefer to quote something based on a plan or a dimensioned sketch. A quote is only as good as the information it is based on.
estimates are free , so if you are a "for real" customer you should at least be to the point of having something down on paper before you solicit for quotations

Herschelt - if you do even a single line drawing of what you want, then at least you will be comparing apples to apples. Most true craftsmen in their particular discipline will let you know if you should be making small changes to the design to get better value from their product. As you have just heard from some suppliers/installers of sips, you will also hear from ICF and stickbuilt contractors. Anyone you gives you a square foot price for their product without a least some kind of a plan, is just trying to get you hooked and will play you in as the time rolls along.
