I'm an Economics student, I was wanting some input if possible. Are green building materials considered public or private goods or a natural monopoly?

Depends on the situation. Tapping into a river for micro hydro might be considered a public good, a geothermal system is private. I guess the key would be who is impacted outside of the user.
