michaeld; a "Nailing fin" is used for frame construction, a "flange mount" to bucks is strictly a masonry installation. Since the typical masonry installation centers the windo in the masonry, it is a lot less likely to have water pentration sitting 4" back than a flush mounted window in a frame wall that relies on flashing tape.

We are considering this same project. Was curious how the original poster's project went and whether you mounted directly to the masonry or not.
