Anyone install a living driveway using any of the products such as Eco-Grid, Home-Grid, etc?

I'd like to do this in my new home construction to reduce/eliminate the heat island created by concrete driveways, but wondered about ease of installation, how well it holds up, and it's cost relative to concrete.

thanks

I've seen some very nice living driveways... cool products

I wonder if the VAST pavers or similar hold up to a freeze thaw and driveway plowing climate? I think they are made in MN so probably a yes.

Around here, most people use cracked up cement as pavers and retaining wall blocks, except they don't call it "green" or recycling, they just call it frugal. :)

Frugal indeed! But my wife and I wouldn't like the look. But with the rising cost of the project, we might just end up doing that.

They aren't very pretty as retaining walls. The ones with lots of rock look better. Most of the landscaping pavers sold are concrete anyway; if you buried them in the dirt with only the tops showing, it wouldn't be that much different of a look.

I wonder if you could use a concrete stain to get a more natural look?

Now for a driveway full of pavers? Sweat equity indeed!
