what makes it "not a true sip project"?

I'd love to go back to the MFG, however they went out of business during the process of putting on the roof, thus the reason I am doing what I am doing.

Who is the MFG, did you get any installation sheets, etc.

I consider your system a panelized wall/roof system, I consider a SIP a structural wall/roof/floor component that has an insulated core and laminated structural skins.

The MFG was called Energy Wise Systems, they were located in Cleveland OH. I didnt get any installation sheets, they may have left plans lying around in their rush to skip out on the job but I'd have to look.. The engineer that worked with them is still in business and is the only "link" I have but I think he is trying to erase any evidence that he was ever involved with them. He didnt have any wrong doings, he just got sucked in too.

If I remember correctly from prior research, this company http://www.greensourceproducts.com/green_source_products/green_buildings_consultant.asp  is a rebirth of Energy Wise Systems.  The page posted is their contact page and the project engineer is the same one that was at Energy Wise System.

Hope this helps,

Kurt

I had a look at your pictures. Whatever you do... make sure you seal those holes properly. You should not be able to see daylight through your walls or roof. If I were you, I would consider getting some quotes from some local CLOSED CELL SPRAY FOAM companies. Have them seal in the complete structure. Regardless of the R-value of the area with insulated panels, air infiltration is going to completely ruin your high performance building envelope. A thin coat of closed cell foam will seal everything and fill those large gaps. I feel bad for you, but from your pictures, that company - should - have gone out of business.

Yes, two of them are former EWS people.  Steve DiMaria and Marc Crudele.  It is amazing that they can just wash their hands of one disaster and set up shop somewhere else.  Worst of all the government allows them to do so..  No one has had to take responsibility.

I had originally meet Steve at the Cleveland Home and Garden show.  They built a display house promoting their system and some other building "style" (I just found that out recently).   I talked to Steve and somebody from Universal Homes.  He told me where they had a model home and that I could go an look at it.  For a completed model home I was less than impressed with what I saw.

My intention was to eventually get a chance to view a house under construction to see how well the shell looked before it was completed.  I then found out that they went out of business. (I could not find their website).  While trying to find thier website (before finding that they went out of business).  I found that Steve was originally associated with http://www.techbuilt.com/products.php.  This company is still in business and has recently moved it's headquarters just a few miles from my house.  I have yet to contact them as I am a few years from building.

I do appreciate your input on here since I have a better idea of what and who to watch for.  Before seeing your problems I had decided not to contact the "NEW" company.  I think that this is a great example of make sure you know who you are dealing with.  Thanks.

just a word of caution.. another name to steer clear of, Joe Gallo. He was the "President" of EWS and the biggest scammer (IMHO) out of the group. He is still in business you will find him connected to many different versions of companies. American door and Window is one of them. But like any good scam artist he has "hidden" his name from any legal records. I imagine he has done this because if you take a look at the cuyaghoga county court records they have been sued for a substantial amount of money. While he lives in his big brand new house fancy house, the rest of us have to deal with the problems left by him and his company. When we chose them to build our house they had no legal problems, no complaints etc.. We checked them out throughly, it is just our luck that when we contracted them to do our house it was the beginning of the end. Had we waited about 6 months later we would have known the truth and wouldnt have gone with them. Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda........
