I would have the fake roof go all the way around and not follow the true roof line, so that the fake roof is level. I am not sure how to fit the gutters into the space between fake roof and true roof but there is certainly plenty of room on the lower side of the roof. I dont think framing up the fake roof to allow the gutters would be a problem, they are aesthetic and not structural.

I also like how they shade the windows to keep cooling cost down. Google sketchup is great for showing this as it can show the shadows at different times of day and year.
